Proxy access for health and care services

NHSE have published updated guidance about proxy access to records here.

This document defines a consistent approach to granting and managing proxy access to
digital services with 3 core aims:

  • increase the quality and safety, not quantity, of proxy access
  • enable patients to be meaningfully supported in their care through proxy access
  • enable patients and proxies to have a consistent and equitable experience of care.

This should be read alongside the implementation guidance.
