NHS England have issued a Data Provision Notice (DPN) that legally requires GP Practices to provide the OpenSAFELY Data Analytics Service Pilot with access to pseudonymised GP patient data for studies beyond COVID-19.

There are 4 actions that practices are required to undertake to comply with the Data Provision Notice. Information on these actions can be found here. The actions are:

  1. Instruct your system supplier (directions provided)
  2. Update your practice Privacy Notice (suggested text included)
  3. Complete DPIA (pre-populated template included)
  4. Update your record of processing activities or your information asset register.
