DS&PT Awareness Training

The DS&PT contains the requirement taken from the Data Security Review conducted by Dame Fiona Caldicott, the National Data Guardian, that all staff undertake appropriate annual data security training and pass a mandatory test.

There are a number of options for this, the primary one being the national e-Learning for Health portal operated by Health Education England. Once registered staff should complete the Data Security Awareness Level One course to gain compliance.

GP Practices can also use their own self approved training material so long as it incorporates a suitable comprehension test. Finally, the N3i IG Team are developing a presentation that, combined with a test, will enable staff to be certified as compliant. If practices want to use this as their annual awareness they could send the link to all staff and require them to log in and take part, or they could do it in groups with the presentation projected to a screen. Further details of this will be prided in a newsletter this week.
