- IG Portal. A reminder that our IG Portal is updated with blogs, factsheet and the content of the monthly IG update emails, on a regular basis: Welcome · N3i Information Governance. We have recently added a factsheet outlining the new Medical Examiner’s rights to access deceased patient records.
- Patient Online access. We have recently seen a very serious example of sensitive information being added to a patient record by a GP which was not marked as “not to show online” and was subsequently seen by a coercive partner who had access to the record. Please can you ensure that all persons who are adding information to patient records are aware of the need to consider if there are any reasons why the data should not appear on the online record.
- Data Breaches. We have been receiving fewer reports of data breaches (hopefully this is because there haven’t been many…). Please remember that ALL data breaches are required to be reported through the DSPT. If the DSPT requires the breach to be reported to the ICO, it must also be reported to us as your DPO Team.
- Support Visits. We have completed several support visits to practices in recent weeks. As a reminder these are informal visits from the IG Team to discuss general issues such as requests to access records and other such routine activity to ensure everyone is clear on the law and guidance. They are aimed at the Practice Manager and can also be attended by staff from the Administration team at the Practice. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.
- Back in 2020 when N3i first stared we publicised an email account DPO@N3i.co.uk as one that could be used by practices to use on their web sites for the public to contact the DPO. We are now looking to close this account and advise you all to switch to use N3i.DPO@NHS.Net .
